'Tis the season for holiday parties and we have just the party for you! A very merry Two Be Wed Christmas party! Last week we hosted our first annual Two Be Wed Christmas party as a chance to celebrate the holiday season and spread Christmas cheer with our favorite clients, vendors, family and friends! What a delightful evening it was! The ladies of Two Be Wed served their favorite desserts paired with a hot cocoa bar and some naughty Sangria. And it's not a party without cheesy Christmas games and ornament decorating! We sent our guests home with their own handmade ornaments signed by yours truly! With a little help from our friends from Recollection Vintage Rentals, the studio was transformed into a cozy, intimate gathering for our guests with their collection of vintage Christmas decor. Our favorite is the pink glittered reindeer! We hope our guests had as much fun as we did and if you couldn't make it, there's always next year!

Monogrammed Water Bottles are a multifunctional favor that works for every need. It can keep your guests hydrated, allow you to incorporate your stationary and can be personalized with your intials & date. We suggest storing bottles in tin bins, to keep them cool and add a rustic flair, and place somewhere accessible to guests as they arrive. Water bottles are affordable and can be a great DIY project for your bridal party!!

Fan Programs are another multifunctional tool that can serve as your wedding program, as well as cool your guests as they await your grand entrance. Most wedding programs end up on the floor, but the fan feature gives guests another reason to hang on to the program. The pictured fan program added another entertainment feature: word games on the back to keep guests (especially children) entertained before the ceremony. We suggest placing the programs on guests seats beforehand or assigning a house party to hand out to guests as they arrive. Another great DIY project!

If you want to go bold, have your bridesmaids walk down with parasols rather than floral bouquets. They can also be reused after the ceremony for photos and additional decor. You can mix colors & patterns, but make sure to keep it cohesive!

We suggest placing umbrellas/parasols in a basket and

popping some nearby so guests get the idea as they are seated.

Indian Fusion Wedding

In the last few years, we've expanded our firm to include Two Be Red, a branch dedicated to South Asian Brides. South Asian weddings are unlike any American wedding you've ever been to! They can last up to a week long and include the most beautiful traditions. So imagine a wedding that has the elegant, modern style of an American wedding and the unique, beautiful traditions of an Indian wedding, and wahla! You have an Indian Fusion wedding! Recollection was founded by Two Be Wed's own, Natalie Dawley and partners, Ashley Derrick and Patti DiPierri of Something Old, Something New. Together the ladies have combined their experience in the wedding industry and their love for antiques, to create the first antique rental company in Houston. We are back!! Big things have been happening here at Two Be Wed and we have recommitted ourselves to bringing the latest trends, vendors and advice to our blogging community, and fans!

One service we are highlighting this week is the role of the day-of coordinator. Many brides opt out of having a full-time wedding coordinator because they don't fully understand what a coordinator entails. So you ask, what does a day-of coordinator do??

At Two Be Wed, we believe that a day-of coordinator protects the investment of your time, money and more importantly, your peace of mind on your wedding day. We serve as the point of contact for vendors and your bridal party. We prompt the couple and attendants on where to be and when. We manage the styling of decor and the timing of the ceremony and reception. We are responsible for making sure the photographer doesn't miss any monumental moments or be there to repair a snag minutes away from your walk down the aisle.

The reality is the world doesn't stop when you're getting married and life happens. You don't want to be the one when life happens on YOUR day. But in case life does happen, a day-of coordinator gives you the peace of mind that your investment is protected on your day, all day.

Open House Success

Yesterday was our second grand opening and it was a huge success! The turn out was unbelievable and we couldn't be more appreciative of everyone who was able to come. In case you weren't able to make it, we'll let you in on what you missed. We had our talented friends, Divisi Strings, on the front patio rockin' modern tunes in the most sophisticated style. They always do a great job! With the help of Rob from Events in Bloom, we had pink rose bouquets scattered across our chic couch setup out front. In the back, LG Entertainment had the dance floor poppin' with DJ Lewis Grell. We had tons of compliments on the food provided by Campells Catering. And who could forget the desserts? Desserts galore from Michael's Cookie Jar, Angie's Cakes, My Little Cupcake Factory and Carrie Made the Cake, plus many more! But of course the hit of the night was the fotorazzi photo booth provided by Casa de Camera. The night wouldn't have been possible without the help from all of our vendors and friends in the industry. It was definitely a night to remember and a get way to kick off our business in our new home. Of course words don't do it justice so I'll leave you with a few photos from the night! xox

It's been awhile since our last post, but big things have been happening at TwoBeWed. For starters, we've moved! We are now at 2611 Greenbriar St. #1 and couldn't be happier. The location is great and our roommates have already become like a second family. We share our little house in the city with the wonderful ladies of Casa de Camera, Love Lee Photography and Studio B Images. Our setup is perfect because we are all women of the industry dedicated to making wedding dreams come true.

The new studio design is almost complete and we would love for you all to check it out at our open house party on May 26th. Divisi Strings and Collide will be performing from 6-9 pm, as well as DJ Lewis Grell spinning late night if the party is worthy. Cocktails, hor d'ourves and desserts galore will be served. Please drop by and meet the Greenbriar Girls at the Little House in the City!

IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR

Or is it? Prominent relationship experts say that it depends on your relationships...or lack of them...with family or extended family. When I was a child I remember listening to holiday music and hearing "It's the most wonderful time of the year", made famous by Andy Williams. As an adult, I am aware that it may have felt that way to Andy Williams, or the writer of the song, but for a lot of people, the holiday season can be a difficult time. It is difficult for a number of reasons,and most usually because someone is going to have to spend time with, or perhaps, without family.

Why do we find family or spending time with family so difficult? There are a multitude of reasons and they include anxiety, frustration, fears, joy, hopefulness and thankfully, happiness. Whether you spend your holidays with our without family, or as many of you are doing... spending it with your new family, I would like to share some thoughts with you as you prepare for your holiday season.

Focus on the positive. Finding fault is easy. We all have faults and if someone looks hard enough, they can find them. Learn to compliment the other on what you like about them and you will find that they will concentrate on not doing those things that you have previously criticized them for.

Establish and develop healthy boundaries. You can't control other people. You also cannot allow them to control you. Just say "no" to unhealthy behavior. Work on your own behavior and maintaining your own boundaries - not in trying to "save" or "correct" someone else. If you are getting to know your fiance's family, try to remember you are in the beginning stages of developing a new lifelong relationship. Starting your new family relations on as solid ground as possible can create a lifetime of peace!

I am so excited to welcome Michael's Cookie Jar to the Two Be Wed family! Michael Savino is a trained pastry chef from the Culinary Institute of America. He is on a mission to create and introduce the yummiest and finest cookies in Houston and doing a fabulous job I might add!

Grand Ideas for Your Grand Entrance

Grand Entrances should capture your guests. This is the first introduction as husband and wife at the reception...make it memorable!

1) Play a song that builds excitement! My clients Jason and Amanda played the Rocky theme song as they were raised up from the lift at Hotel ZaZa...their guests were going crazy! Dunna, duh, Dunna, duh, Dunna, duh, Dunna, duh!! (me trying to hum the song)

2) Do a little jig or a signature dance move! Have fun with the entrance...it sets the tone for the reception.

3) If you're a little more conservative then take your time. Don't rush to your seat. Let the entire song play and reach out to some of your guests to give them hugs or shake their hands. Seriously, this is your presidential moment!!

4) Please go straight to the dance floor!!!! There is nothing worse than building up the momentum and then coming to a screeching hault by sitting down. You already have everyone's attention so milk it for what it's worth and give them the dance of your life!

5)Smile, Kiss, and make it a photo worthy moment!! Guys, twirl your girl or dip her and when you lift her up meet her with a kiss! Seriously, you'll get the "Most Romantic" guy award and points with your honey!!

Part 2: Reception Rooms that POP!

I am sure you are in suspense waiting for suggestion two, ha ha ha. Ok, here it is... LIGHTING!

Reception rooms will of course have some type of lighting… some better than others. Provided that your venue does not offer colored or effect lighting, suggestion two may work just perfect for you.

Lighting can add depth and excitement to a reception room. The lighting industry is filled with exciting options that will blow your mind. Depending on your budget you can invest quite a bit with things like table spot lighting, custom gobos, glowing furniture, moon balloons, sparkle drape, chandeliers, enhanced dance floor or stage lighting and so on. All of these options are fabulous and if you have the budget, totally go for it.

We suggest the very minimum to add what is known as Par Cans, which will come with a gel color of your choice. A gel is basically a colored film that goes over the light to illuminate the designated color. The Par Can is usually used to up-light or spot light an area. By adding even just a few to your reception room, it will take your room from whatever to WOW.

No matter what lighting you choose to do, consult an expert. Lighting can get complicated and someone by your side with experience in this area will get the great production results you are after.

We are going to share with you our top five ideas to make your reception room POP!

The first suggestion is simple. Instead of using the venues basic linens, kick it up a notch by ordering colored or textured linens from your local distributor. What makes this suggestion so exciting is the linens that are offered to the event industry are beautiful and creative.

Imagine walking into a reception room with basic ivory linens, nice but... Now imagine walking into a room that has upgraded at minimum to a polyester solid color like rust, raspberry or chocolate...yes!

The most cost effective upgrade is the polyester linen which is offered in a huge selection of colors. From there you can upgrade to different fabric blends like Lamours, Bichons or Damasks and so on depending on your budget.

Important Linen Notes:

Please, please make sure that your linens go to the floor. It is very important to know what table size you are dealing with. There is nothing more frustrating than seeing the ugly metal legs of the table peaking out, yuck.

It is always best to have a iron or steamer on hand to remove the folding crease. Please consult your linen distributor before applying heat to fabrics.

Keeping all the tables the same when it comes to the linens will assure a much cleaner look.

Color theory is back in session and we are talking about RED. I have to say that red has always been a hot wedding color. In fact, a popular color combination that we see in the studio is red with white and black. We would like to take a moment to show you that you can still use red, but make it all your own.

Red is the color of energy and evokes such emotions such as passion and love (very fitting for a wedding).

We have taken five reds: fire engine red, sangria, terra cotta, rust and cerise and grouped them together with today's hottest colors. Enjoy!
